Valencia midfielder Sergio Canales out 3-6 months

VALENCIA, Spain (AP) — Valencia says midfielder Sergio Canales will be out forthree to six months after partially tearing a ligament in his right leg duringhis team’s 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. Club doctors said on Monday that they have yet to determine if the20-year-old Canales needs surgery. If so, they said he will be sidelined for six months. Canales has scored one goal since joining Valencia on loan from Real Madridthis summer with a buy-out option. Valencia is currently in fifth place in the Spanish league after drawing itslast two matches.
